‘No’ is a word that Mildred was very seldom told, growing up. As the only surviving child of three, she was babied, and given everything she could’ve ever wanted. In spite of this, a raincloud of misfortune seemed to follow her wherever she went.

Somehow, this misfortune resulted in her ending up here. God help us.
