Biography
Colonel Alfred Zeitel grew up in Alsace–Lorraine to an aristocratic mining family which in-spite of their deep ties to France were ethnically German. With the outcome of the Franco-Prussian War he choose Germany instead and suddenly abandoned his education towards the family trade to join the Imperial German Army. Over the next decades he would refine his instinct for ruthless social climbing. By the begging of the new century he had distinguished himself in Africa and fount a true calling in the prestigious clique of spy-craft. In-spite of his later actions against the British in Africa and well earned reputation he begun divulging state secrets to the British for great sums of money around 1905 with irregularity that made him seem all the more elusive. When war started and he started reporting heat from his fellows the British arranged for his defection, overlooking a particularly scathing report by a failed operative who had encountered the colonel in April of 1912. In the upper echelons of the British state suspicions to the Colonel's true leanings are murmured, with a notable number of the information he provided as an insider assisting either the Kaiser or wealthy German industrialists in one way or another but wartime concerns have put a stop to that. Working in a civilian advisor position with stated loyalties to France he has arranged passage on the Britannic to review the Macedonian front as an expert civilian advisor.
