Biography
Caledon James Edwards was born on November 15, 1892, in the town of Boston, Massachusetts, to former naval commander Garrett Edwards and fashion designer Josephine Robinson. The middle child of three siblings, Caledon often bickered with his younger brother Lloyd; however, he was best friends with his sister Elizabeth. In 1912, Caledon’s life took a turn for the worse when he barely survived the sinking of the RMS Titanic; he was washed overboard as the ship rolled, but he was pulled from the water by Collapsible A. He soon made it aboard the Carpathia unscathed and made his way back home. However, his mother had died from shock, believing he had perished because he never wrote to tell his family he was alive. This caused him to get into an argument with his father, and he decided to leave the United States and head back to Paris to be with his lover, Délphine Cordélie Allard, a woman he had met in Paris and traveled with on the Titanic. Cal eventually dealt with trauma from the sinking and began taking medicine to help calm him and prevent panic attacks. Cal and Délphine married in 1914, and in 1915, they were blessed with their firstborn child, a son named Julian. It was also during this time that Cal became a wartime photographer, documenting life on the battlefield. In 1916, just three months after the birth of his twin son and daughter, Arthur and Eloise Caledon took the opportunity to travel to Mudros to document wounded soldiers on the battlefield, and the ship he plans on taking is the HMHS Britannic, sister of the RMS Titanic. Cal, still traumatized by the events of April 14th/15th, 1912 doesn't really want to be on Britannic but he feels like he has too as a way to get rid of the trauma that he feels is holding him back.
