Biography
Alexander Roseland,born into a large family of the working/middle class.His father ran a pharmacy on the ground floor of the building, while his mother had a small tailor shop in the back.The family lived quite modestly,but there was always something to put on the table,pay the rent or make sure there is always warm water.Life couldn't have been better,at least by the family's standards and ambitions,which were fairly down to earth.Unfortunately, the problem lay in the future,the parents knew they couldn't afford to send all their children to universities,at most,with significant savings,two,or perhaps three of them at best.In June 1914,the time had come to make a decision,the family gathered around the table to decide the family’s fate.The children divided between those who would stay behind to take care of the house and the shops,while others would go to college,there was enough money for two of them.Anna said she would stay with her mother and take up sewing,while Ella wanted to study philosophy when she gets older.Adam and Victor promised that they would take over the pharmacy with father.Unfortunately,there was a falling out between Alexander and Tommy.Both boys wanted to studymAlexander medicine, and Tommy economics. No one wanted to take away Ella's options for her future education,so the boys started thinking of a solutionl;a arm wrestling match?No, that’s too unfair.Drawing sticks?Too predictable.At one point,the boys’ father pulled a coin out of his pocket.A simple question was asked,heads or tails?Out of courtesy,Alexander let his brother choose,and Alexander was left with tails.Their father tossed the coin,the longest 10 seconds of Alexander’s life.Unfortunately,their father didn’t catch the coin in time,it fell and rolled under the table,causing the two brothers to scramble under the table,knocking it over to their mother’s dismay and their siblings in laughter.The sun revealed a bright ray.Tails,may the two boys look at each other and then they hugged up.Tears welled up in Alexander’s eyes,he didn’t want to take chance away from his brother,but on the other hand,he wanted to achieve something great.His dream.War started 2 years later,Alexander got drafted.
